Under The Sea in Groton, CT

October 1, 2011

We’ve already had a busy late Summer Fall here at Operation Shower with 3 showers on our 4 shower “Fall Tour.”  We almost feel like we should have had concert type tour shirts made!

The first stop on our Tour was Groton, Connecticut. Our first shower for a submarine base and our first one that barely beat a hurricane! Not to fear though, the shower went off without a single hitch and that is thanks in large part to our amazing partners Birdies For The Brave and the wonderful team from the Naval Submarine Base New London, led by Karen McLaughlin, the wife of Rear Admiral Michael McLaughlin.

Moms were treated to an evening full of gratitude and gifts, “Under The Sea”,  in the very fitting Submarine Force Library & Museum. Judging by the smiles on their faces, we think they had a pretty good time!

We have many to thank for making this night possible, and want to start, again, with our host partner, Birdies For The Brave. Birdies For The Brave is the PGA TOUR’s military outreach initiative that provides year-round support to our Nation’s military. We value our relationship with them and look forward to the future!

Our presenting sponsor for this event was Care.com. Thank you!  Support was also given by the Travelers Championship, St. Francis Foundation and Pottery Barn Kids Furniture. We appreciate all of them for helping us make a difference.

In addition to the cribs donated by Pottery Barn Kids, moms were also treated to very special gifts from Maclaren and  Radio Flyer. Sesame Workshop provided special surprises, including a video from Rosita and a phone call from Elmo himself!

Thank you, again, to our partners and presenting sponsors for doing your part to give back to these deserving families. We truly enjoyed going “Under The Sea” with you! Stay tuned for some more seaside scenes and visit our entire gallery here in our Facebook album!
