Operation Shower’s Master Covid Rules/Testing
Operation Shower is happy to announce we are adding more in-person events to our 2022 calendar. We know how much these assist and mean to military families across the country, plus we are happy to be able to see your faces in person again. With the spread of the current variant and the number of Covid-19 cases, we will take every precaution to make sure the moms-to-be attending our events, and everyone helping to host the event, will be safe.
We are, therefore, implementing the following requirements for our staff, volunteers, and, most critically, the moms-to-be.
What is the Type of Event?
- Drive-Through Event (DT)
- In-Person Event (IP)
Key Terms:
- Vaccinated – This means that on the date of the shower or event set-up, the person is at least 14 days past receiving their first dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or the second dose in a two-dose series vaccine (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna).
What is Operation Shower’s Vaccination/Testing Requirement?
Staff, Volunteers, Vendors, and Non-Military Mom Shower Recipient Guests
- All staff, volunteers, vendors, and guests provided by Operation Shower and/or the Sponsors shall be vaccinated if they will be staying for the shower event (DT, IP)
- for vendors that will not be staying for the shower, they must wear a KN95 or N95 mask and socially distance during their set-up (IP, DT)
- Based on current variants and case counts at the time of the event, Operation Shower reserves the right to also require a negative test for anyone who will be assigned a role where they will be in close proximity to the military moms.
Showered Guests and Other Guests
- Military moms attending the Operation Shower event must either be vaccinated or present proof of (a) a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of the shower event or (b) a negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within 6 hours of the shower start time. Operation Shower will offer, when able to do so, on-site testing.
The test results must clearly show the date and time of the test. The antigen test should be performed by a medical professional or be an over-the-counter, app-based testing kit that clearly provides the date/time of the test results.
At events where moms are allowed to bring a guest, those guests must be vaccinated per the “Staff, Volunteers, Vendors and Non-Military Mom Shower Recipient Guests” section above. (IP)
- No vaccination or test results are required for moms or their guests at drive-through events. (DT)
What is the Operation Shower’s Masking Requirement?
Staff, Volunteers, and Vendors
Operation Shower will require all staff and volunteers (whether supplied by Operation Shower, vendors, or sponsors) to wear KN95 or N95 masks when not eating or drinking at designated times, regardless of vaccination status. (IP, DT)
Showered Guests and other Guests
Operation Shower will require all Military moms and all other guests attending an Operation Shower event to wear KN95 or N95 masks when not eating or drinking at designated times, regardless of vaccination status. (IP)
Military moms and their guests attending an Operation Shower drive-through event are not required to wear face masks unless they are outside of their own vehicle to use the facilities, assisting with any personal belongings inside their vehicle, or being a part of an interview or other activity outside their vehicle. (DT)
Based on current variants and case counts at the time of the event, Operation Shower reserves the right to revise this requirement for masks as appropriate.
What is Operation Shower’s Method to Secure Proof of Vaccination?
Staff, Volunteers and Vendors, Showered Guests and Other Guests
Acceptable proof of a COVID-19 vaccination includes:
- Showing paper version of CDC Covid Vaccine Card
- Showing photocopy of the CDC Covid Vaccine Card
- Showing a photo of the CDC Covid Vaccine Card on a mobile device
- Showing portion of military shot records which show COVID vaccines (via paper version or photo)
Proof of vaccination may be shown:
- Via a quick video call with an Operation Shower staff or volunteer
- Via email or text (which will be deleted upon verification)
- If the person attending the event wishes to show these at the event location, they may do so.
Email or video verification should be provided 2 weeks prior to the event. Accompanying proof of identification in the form of a driver’s license or another document that visibly identifies the person on the vaccination card must also be shown.
Failure to show proof of vaccination if required as set forth above will result in denial of entry to the event.
What is Operation Shower’s Method to Secure Proof of a Negative Covid-19 test?
If Operation Shower does not have the ability to provide rapid antigen testing on-site prior to the shower, the following are acceptable as proof of a negative COVID-19 test result: printed document (from the test provider or laboratory) or an email or text message displayed on a phone or electronic device from the test provider or laboratory. Self-reported negative test results that are not from a test provider, a laboratory, a health care provider, or an over-the-counter, app-based testing kit which clearly provides the date/time of the test results cannot be accepted.
The documentation must include:
- Name of the person tested
- Test result
- Type of test
- Entity issuing the result (e.g., laboratory, healthcare entity, or telehealth service).
- Specimen collection date.
- Accompanying proof of identification in the form of a driver’s license or other document that visibly identifies the person on the test result
Screening
In addition to the above masking, vaccination, and/or testing, each time an employee, volunteer, or guest plans to come to an Operation Shower event; they must do the following prior to arriving at the event:
- Screening: Operation Shower will ask that all employees, volunteers, and guests participating in any Operation Shower event self-screen for symptoms prior to the event
- Check their temperature
- Consider whether they have any of the following symptoms:
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or trouble breathing
- Fever
- Chills
- Muscle aches
- Sore throat
- New loss of taste or smell
- Consider if they have had close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 10 days.
- If any employee, volunteer, or guest has a temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or above, has any of the above symptoms, or has been in close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 10 days, they may not attend an Operation Shower event.
- If any employee, volunteer, or guest develops any symptoms of a respiratory illness while at the Operation Shower event, they must immediately leave and contact their healthcare provider for additional guidance.
- Employees, volunteers, or guests must notify an Operation Shower staff member in writing right away if they or anyone they have brought to the event (employees, volunteers, or guests) feel sick and have been on-site at an Operation Shower event in the preceding 14 days. We will then work with the local health department to see what steps need to be taken to notify those who attended the event.
- Any employee, volunteer, or guest who is vaccinated and recently recovered from Covid is allowed to attend under the following protocols:
- The individual must be 10 days past symptoms on the date of the event.
- The individual must have a negative rapid antigen test.
Operation Shower reserves the right to update these protocols at any time for the health and safety of all attendees.
