Operation Shower’s Master Covid Rules/Testing
Operation Shower is working to host in-person events again as we know how much these assist and mean to military families across the country. With the spread of the Delta variant and the rise in Covid-19 cases, we will take every precaution to make sure the moms-to-be attending our events, and everyone helping to host the event, will be safe.
We are therefore, implementing the following requirements for our staff, volunteers, and most-critically the moms-to-be.
What is the Type of Event?
- Drive-Through (DT)
- In Person – Outside (IPO)
- In Person – Inside (IPI)
Key Terms:
- Vaccinated – Must be two weeks past receiving their first dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or the second dose in a two-dose series vaccine (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna).
- The three-day period is three calendar days before the event. By using a three-day window, test validity does not depend on the time of the event or the time of day that the test was administered
What is Operation Shower’s Vaccination/Testing Requirement?
Staff, Volunteers and Vendors
- All Operation Shower staff, volunteers and vendors provided by Operation Shower shall be vaccinated if they will be staying for the shower event. (DT, IPO and IPI)
- For vendors that will not be staying for the shower, they must wear a mask and socially distance during their set-up. (IPO, IPI)
- All of the Sponsors’ staff, any volunteers or vendors secured by the Sponsors either must be vaccinated or submit a negative Covid-19 test result within 3 days of the event. (IPO, IPI)
- All of the Sponsors’ staff and any volunteers secured by the Sponsors who will be loading moms’ cars or helping in activities closer than 6 feet in proximity to the moms (car decorating etc) will either be vaccinated or will share a negative covid-19 test 3 days prior to the event. (DT)
Showered Guests and Other Guests
- Military moms attending the Operation Shower event either must be vaccinated or submit a negative Covid-19 test result within 3 days of the event. (IPO, IPI)
- Other guests attending the Operation Shower event must be vaccinated. (IPO, IPI)
- No vaccination or test results are required for moms or their guests at drive through events. (DT)
What is Operation Shower’s Method to Secure Proof of Vaccination?
Staff, Volunteers and Vendors, Showered Guests and Other Guests
Acceptable proof of a COVID-19 vaccination includes:
- Showing paper version of CDC Covid Vaccine Card
- Showing photocopy of the CDC Covid Vaccine Card
- Showing photo of the CDC Covid Vaccine Card on a mobile device
- Showing portion of military shot records which show COVID vaccines (via paper version, or photo)
Proof of vaccination may be shown:
- Via a quick video call with an Operation Shower staff or volunteer.
- Via email or text (which email/text will be deleted upon verification/following the event).
- If the person attending the event wishes to show these at the event location, they may do so.
Email or video verification should be provided 2 weeks prior to the event. Accompanying proof of identification in the form of a driver’s license or other document that visibly identifies the person on the vaccination card must also be shown.
Failure to show proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test result will result in denial of entry to the event.
What is Operation Shower’s Method to Secure Proof of a Negative Covid-19 test?
Staff, Volunteers and Vendors, Showered Guests and Other Guests
For those who do not wish to/or are unable to provide proof of vaccination, documentation of a negative test taken within 3 days of the event will also be accepted. The test must be one of the 3 tests identified below.
Which type of tests do we require?
- PCR Testing – This is the gold standard in SARS-CoV-2 detection. Turn-around time is usually in the 48 – 72 range but can take longer during times of high demand.
- Antigen Rapid Test – This test detects the protein fragments specific to the coronavirus. Results can be reported within 15 minutes.
- Molecular Rapid Test – A molecular test that detects levels of RNA from the SARS-CoV2 virus.
The following are acceptable as proof of a negative COVID-19 test result:
- printed document (from the test provider or laboratory) OR
- an email or text message displayed on a phone or electronic device from the test provider or laboratory.
Self-reported negative test results that are not from a test provider, a laboratory, or a health care provider cannot be accepted. The documentation must include:
- Name of person tested
- Test result
- Type of test
- Entity issuing the result (e.g., laboratory, healthcare entity or telehealth service).
- Specimen collection date. A negative test result must show the specimen was collected within the three days before the event to be attended.
- Accompanying proof of identification in the form of a driver’s license or other document that visibly identifies the person on the test result.
