Tanya Martinez of Save the Date for Cupcakes

Tanya, Save the Date for CupcakesA little background about yourself and/or your company.

I am a freelance Photography Stylist and Creative Director. I have five children. I come from a military family. My father retired a Sgt. Major in the Army. My husband is a Navy veteran and my son is currently serving in the Navy.

When did you first start working with/giving to Operation Shower?

I first started working with Operation Shower 5 (or 6?) years ago when they hosted a shower at the Barclays Center in Farmingdale NY. Since then,  my father, husband, and son have all volunteered with me at various showers from NY all the way to Hawaii!

Why did you chose Operation Shower as a way of giving back?

I chose Operation Shower as a way of giving back because I think it’s an amazing opportunity to help military families.

What does giving back to military families through Operation Shower mean to you/your company?

Giving back to military families through Operation Shower is a great privilege. It makes my heart full to see the joy and happiness Operation Shower brings to military wives whose husbands are almost always deployed.

Save the Date for CupcakesWhat has been one of your favorite memories of working with Operation Shower?

I have many favorite memories of working with Operation Shower! One of my favorite memories is when a celebrity FaceTimed a husband who was deployed while she was holding his new-born baby. I also love when the husbands are able to attend the showers and share the overwhelming joy that Operation Shower brings.

If you could say one thing to military moms and families, what would it be?

I would tell them that they’re not alone! That’s one thing that I didn’t realize while growing up in a military family. The Family Readiness program is always available and willing to help. Operation Shower is growing and providing showers for hundreds of military families every year. There are many organizations that are willing to donate their time and services to help military families in need.
