Tania FischerA little background about yourself and/or your company.

I am a Graphic Designer, born in Mexico City, and I have been living in the US for 19 years now. I have been designing invitations and party favors for 15 years and working in different companies in corporate America. Tania Fischer Design is an invitation, party planning, and giant paper flower (one of the pioneers of the business) small company. Love, love event planning!

When did you first start working with/giving to Operation Shower?

I was looking at Hostess with the Mostess’ website and saw they had a shower. It was one of the first ones and I said to myself, “I want to work with them!” and contacted Operation Shower right away!

Why did you chose Operation Shower as a way of giving back?

I thought it was different, fun, and I had something to offer to them. But when I volunteered for my first shower, wow! I found that I had more to give and a little bit in common with some of these moms. You see a lot of them move away from home, their husbands are not around (deployed or preparing to,) and they are new to the area. For some people, itโ€™s easy to adapt and make friends but for others it’s hard, and Operation Shower opens that door to make new friends and be part of a new family. That goes for everyone…not only the moms, but the volunteers we meet through helping with Operation Shower. They become your friends and, some, even your new family.

What does giving back to military families through Operation Shower mean to you/your company?

The experience is so unique, so heartwarming, so sweet. To my company and to me, it is just a gift from the heart that we give to thank the “support team,” the ones left behind, and all those men and women who keep us safe and free in our country.

Tania Fischer Event DesignWhat has been one of your favorite memories of working with Operation Shower?

I can’t choose one, it is always a different memory at every shower: the babies, the crafting, decorations, meeting people, hearing good stories, surprising moms. But if I have to choose, the people I’ve met and who I now call my dear friends is my favorite memory because now, among friends, we make other people happy ๐Ÿ™‚

If you could say one thing to military moms and families, what would it be?

We love you, THANK YOU for your support and for being so brave, THANK YOU!
