Amazing CelebrationsA little background about yourself and/or your company.

Amazing Celebrations & Events is a full-service design, coordination, and production company for corporate and social events. Our attention to detail allows our clients to experience a stress-free and memorable occasion. After operating the business on my own for many years, I was incredibly fortunate that my husband Michael was able to join me full time about 4 years ago. We have offices in Glastonbury, CT and Charlestown, MA.

When did you first start working with/giving to Operation Shower?

I learned about Operation Shower three years ago from a social media posting. There was a call out looking for volunteers for an upcoming shower at the Travelers Championship Golf Tournament. Best decision ever to participate in an Operation Shower event!!!

Why did you chose Operation Shower as a way of giving back?

Prior to starting my business, I spent several years volunteering with The American Cancer Society. In addition, I often dedicated time to my children’s school events and to our synagogue’s social action projects. Although I was involved in many different charitable endeavors, I had always wanted to focus more of my time with one worthwhile organization. Operation Shower fits the bill perfectly. I was extremely impressed with the dedication of everyone involved and we believe in their mission to help military families.

What does giving back to military families through Operation Shower mean to you/your company?

Some of our older family members served in the military and my husband’s step brother was deeply affected psychologically by his experience in Vietnam. Although we don’t currently have any family members in active service, we have always been deeply grateful to those who choose to serve. We are aware of the sacrifices that their families must endure with loved ones in harm’s way. As a company and as individuals, we have decided to support Operation Shower in three ways. 1. We added a link to Operation Shower on our website. This will give our clients an opportunity to learn about their amazing efforts. 2. We have committed to supporting the events in our area (New England) by sourcing vendors who generously donate their services for each shower event. 3. We will donate our ‘tzedakah’ collection on an annual basis to Operation Shower. Tzedakah means charitable giving and usually consists of loose change collected throughout the year in a tzedakah box or small bank.

Amazing CelebrationsWhat has been one of your favorite memories of working with Operation Shower?

Each and every shower event has had a profound impact on us. Without fail, happy tears are shed, but it’s usually with a smile plastered on our faces. We are forever thankful to everyone at Operation Shower who have welcomed us into their family of volunteers. It’s also amazing to see the moms connect with each other and to hear their stories of resilience. By far, the best memory at a shower was the moment when all the moms realized that they were each getting a Tempur-Pedic Bed. It didn’t matter that I knew what was going to be announced. As soon as the first mom starting crying, it was all over for me!!!

If you could say one thing to military moms and families, what would it be?

Of course, THANK YOU, goes without saying. I would also want them to know that their children have the most amazing parents, who have dedicated themselves to protecting others, despite the sacrifice to their own families.
