Operation Shower Volunteer
A little background about yourself.
I was a stay at home mom who raised two kids while we moved around a lot. I got to the point in life where I needed more than Pilates and pedicures. Getting to know the Army’s Golden Knights made me realize I wanted to do something for the military. I googled military charities and found Operation Shower.
When did you first start volunteering with Operation Shower?
I found Operation Shower in 2010. I started raising money for the USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN 77) shower but didn’t actually volunteer until the shower in September 2011 (I think.)
Why did you choose Operation Shower as a way of giving back?
I immediately knew that Operation Shower was going to be a happy experience. It seemed like such a win-win to help military families and have fun at the same time.
What does giving back to military families through Operation Shower mean to you?
I feel as if I have won the lottery each time I volunteer for Operation Shower. To bring smiles and spread joy to the expectant wives of our military, while working with the amazing Operation Shower team and 41’s First Mates, is as good as it gets. Well, maybe the Patriots winning the Super Bowl is a tad more exciting but Operation Shower is right up there!
What has been one of your favorite memories of volunteering with Operation Shower?
It has to be the moments that are associated with the moms receiving gifts and prizes.
If you could say one thing to military moms and families, what would it be?
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
How many showers have you attended?
I am not 100% sure but know at least 12.
