NORFOLK, VA – Marking our 80th military baby shower, Operation Shower brought joy to 40 military moms-to-be on Monday, September 12, teaming up with PepsiCo to present a baby shower in their honor. All of the moms are the spouses of active duty or deployed members of Norfolk-area U.S. Navy ships or are active duty themselves. The shower took place with the courtesy of the Norfolk Waterside Marriott and was emceed by Mary Kathryn “Woo Woo” Wood, host of The Morning Point on WPTE-FM Radio 94.9 The Point. A native of Norfolk, Wood has been waking up listeners on 94.9 The Point for more than 10 years and is a passionate supporter of local charities and causes. Joining Wood as a special guest at the shower was U.S. Navy Captain Randy Stearns.

Sponsored by PepsiCo the “Under the Sea”-themed event included lunch, raffle prizes, and the presentation of our signature “Shower In A Box” to each of our moms, thanks to products generously donated high-quality products by companies including Dorel Juvenile Products for them and their precious babies. Beyond the array of tangible items our moms received, the most treasured gift of all may be the opportunity for the moms to connect with other military women in the same situation.

Sea What We Have For Our Moms
Our moms were treated to a day of sweet fun and surprises! A Lively Affair set up an enchanting dessert table with treats to match the theme of the shower. Elite Custom Cakes, Creating Awesomenessity, Candy With A Twist, and Sweets Indeed shared their tasty talents with everyone.
There were more than enough thingamabobs and doohickeys sent home with our moms to make them feel like real princesses! Summer Infant, LÍLLÉbaby, MAM, and GUND were just a few of the amazing vendors who helped to make this day unforgettable for so many military families. Our generous, caring donors really made sure that the moms and dads went home with so many items they would need for their growing families and we truly appreciate them!
