Can you believe it’s been 100 showers?! From 17 moms and boxes packed in a basement, to impacting the lives of over 5,000 deserving military families, this is so exciting! Ready to Pop was the perfect theme to describe how we’re just bursting with love and appreciation for such deserving people as we reach this incredible milestone!
Pop with Appreciation
As we set up for the shower, everyone was abuzz with all that we had in store for our military families. We never could have made it here without the support of so many individual donors, companies who love to give back, and corporate sponsors who believe in our mission. They all came together to make sure that every mom showered knew how much they were loved and appreciated.
PRO EM Party and Event Rentals was the Presenting Sponsor for this shower and they made sure that the stage was set for an event worthy of these military families! The shower was held inside the re-creation of an air hanger and blew everyone away! The moms were serenaded by the amazingly talented Cali Rodi, who’s been a long supporter of military families through us and Birdies for the Brave. The 2018 WMPO Chair introduced local reporter Andrea Robinson, who joined us for the 6th time as the host. Forty-one moms were showered at the event and and The Carrying On Project was on hand to help them each moms pick out a carrier.
We also have to say a special thank you to M Culinary Concepts! Everything is always made better with food and they’ve been there since our first event with PRO EM. We’re so thankful for their support over the years and for being there to celebrate 100 showers with us!
Pop with Excitement
To start the shower, Brady Castro, the CEO of PRO EM Party and Event Rentals began by giving away beautiful crib bedding sets from Carousel Designs. Hunter and Kandi Mahan of the Mahan Foundation then joined us, with their 3 absolutely adorable children, to help us with a game of BINGO. Kelli Pedroia joined us all the way from Boston to help give out many more amazing prizes! Her family has supported military moms through their work with Pedroia Platoon, as well as through partnering with Operation Shower. In addition to our special guests, we’re so thankful to have amazing donors like Kendra Scott-Arizona, Wubbanub, and Chicco USA.
The main event of the shower is always the Shower in a Box. Discover Financial Services helped collect items to fill the boxes with the things mom will need for their little one. Waste Management also gave each family a special gift of appreciation.
Pop with Gratitude
We had a beautiful time showering our moms, babies, and dads. We’re so thankful for Rebecca Propes of Make & Do Studio for her graphics and creative talent to make this shower really pop! We’re forever grateful for our volunteers and supporters make all of it possible.
Again, we were reminded of why we do what we do. Six of our moms are active duty military, pulling double duty in their life’s work to serve others. Another was the wife of a Wounded Warrior and we were so humbly honored to be able to shower them. One of our moms at the shower was there celebrating with her husband and their 3 week old daughter. Dad is leaving in a week and will be deployed for a year.
Our mission is bringing joyous baby showers to families who are sacrificing so much for all of us; this the whole heart of why we do what we do. We have the humble honor to help them during a time that can be especially rough and scary for them.
