In our first shower with the Flyers Charities, we had the privilege of telling the fairytale of what happened Once Upon A Shower…
Once Upon a Shower
Our fairytale begins when we traveled to Philadelphia to shower 33 moms and military families at the Ramblewood Country Club; they arrived from all branches of the armed forces. Our host for the day was Amanda Elliott. It was a joy to work with her again; our story with her started back in St. Louis and we were excited to join her in the next chapter of her life of service. Amanda is the wife of Flyers’ Goal Tender, Brian Elliott. Her passion for military families is rooted in her own illustrious service history as a former intelligence officer and retired Air Force Captain. Another special guest for the day was Linda Mantai, who has worked for the Flyers Charities for more than 2 decades; she currently serves as the organization’s Vice President.
A Fairy Tale Day
This was a shower to tell a beautiful tale, so we couldn’t miss the opportunity to share the gift of reading with everyone. The Flyers Charities gave each baby a set of books, including A to Zamboni, a special book just from the Flyers! The families were so excited to get to the best part of the story…the Shower in a Box! In addition to really amazing gifts from Kendra Scott, 4moms, and the Cohen Foundation, the Flyers Charities gushed over the little ones by giving them equally adorable Flyers Kids Ball Caps & Flyers Hockey Pucks for them to enjoy!
We were also honored to have Dan Luby to attend and present gifts to our moms. Dan is the PepsiCo Senior Manager Global Supply Chain-Walmart Business; he and the PepsiCo team graciously provided each of our honored families with boxes full of Pepsi brand snacks and essentials to enjoy.
Moms also had the chance to win some of their must-have baby items; blanket and bedding sets, nursing pillows, Safety 1st travel systems, and diapers certainly put smiles on the moms’ faces. Some lucky moms were able to win a behind-the-scenes tour of the QVC Studios! With the Flyers significant others there to help gift the moms, it will one day be such a fun story to tell!
The Details
paper&CAKE designed the theme for the shower, all of it an adorable nod to the fairytale of a shower that we had in store for our military families. The sweetest part of the story was, of course, the dessert table! Beautifully designed, we spoiled our moms with goodies from Anna Shea Chocolates and The Princess Baker.
A big thank you to Images by Berit for capturing all of the fun and excitement of the day! Be sure to visit the Facebook page for more photos here!
