Birdies and Bogeys makes for an adorable baby shower theme! Thanks to the Travelers Championship, we were able to bring all of this fun to some very deserving military families!
Bring on the Birdies!
ConnectiCare, Birdies for the Brave, and Travelers Insurance came together to help military families welcome new babies into their lives. Showering 39 families from the Navy, Marines and the Army, we made sure that this event teed off in style. Designed by Hostess with the Mostess, the course was mapped out for a day they would always remember!
Moms entered the shower and were welcomed by Nathan Grube. Nathan is the Travelers Championship Tournament Director and he introduced everyone to our emcee for the day, our friend Rosie Pope! Rosie has been a friend of Operation Shower for many years and hosts as many showers as she can each year. The families were also introduced to Joan Woodward. Joan is the Executive Vice President of Public Policy and the President of the Travelers Institute. Both Rosie and Joan lavished our guests with gifts! Adorable outfits from the Rosie Pope Collection, onesies and Fisher-Price SpaceSaver High Chairs from the Travelers Championship were a perfect set up for what was in store!
Golf champ and founder of the Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation, Jim Furyk, was also on hand to honor our guests. Cheryl Hutchinson joined us as well, helping to give out raffle prizes to lucky moms; Cheryl is the Senior Vice President, Human Resources at ConnectiCare. Our moms had the chance to win crib bedding, spout covers from 4moms, and nursing pillows.

We played more games…with prizes, of course! Moms had more chances to win a mini-starter library and the coveted Bounceroo from 4moms. To help mom remember to take care of herself, we gave away a one-on-one yoga session! Kristen is a certified yoga instructor, a formerly showered mom and Operation Shower volunteer; she donated this amazing gift for a lucky mom-to-be.
Showers in a Box is what we do! For Birdies and Bogeys, we hit a hole in one with gifts from some incredibly generous donors. Basq, Pumping Essentials, and Little Remedies were just a few of the incredibly thoughtful gifts that we were able to send home with our families.
Our showers are never complete without sweets! Norah Cupcake made golfball cupcakes for everyone to enjoy and there were no mulligans needed here! The Princess Baker treated our guests to a variety of delicious treats. Anna Shea’s beautiful chocolates were an ace!
