A Day to Remember
Given that Operation Shower is based in St. Louis, one might assume that many of our events take place in Missouri, however, this is simply not the case. Perhaps, this is why our first shower of 2017, in partnership with COUNTRY Financial and the St. Louis Blues’ Better Halves was such a special day. It’s always a joy to shower military families with the love, encouragement, and the gifts that they so deserve, but there was something about Hugs & Kisses that made this shower a little bit sweeter.
UnBEARably Cute
The event took place at the Peabody Opera House, located in the heart of downtown St. Louis. Just one look at the event album reveals the timeless and ornate details of the space where our event was held. Bouquets of creamy white hydrangeas and light pink roses sat alongside paper-mâché x’s and o’s, while chivari chairs tied with mint sashes brought an unexpected pop of color. Small Moments‘ graphics featuring whimsical bears and love letters addressed to our military moms added a playful element to the ballroom.
Our guests of honor, 31 military families stationed in or around the Greater St. Louis area, arrived before lunch which allowed just enough time for them to visit the Fish Eye Fun photo booth or to stop by the activity station where the competition to design the most creative onesie was fierce.
Throughout the day, moms played a series of shower games for a chance to win gift cards from Carousel Designs, Babies ‘r Us and Picaboo Photo. Staff representatives from COUNTRY Financial and the Better Halves also joined in the fun. In addition to the Shower in a Box, moms received Louie bears courtesy of the St. Louis Blues, and bundles of books and pj’s collected by COUNTRY Financial prior to the event. Somehow, we still managed to surprise all of the moms with two big giveaways; a Camping Cubs Play Mat from Skip Hop, and a 4moms Bounceroo!
Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow
Before host, Debbie Monterrey could wrap-up the event, guests enjoyed delicious treats from Piccione Pastry, Creating Awesomenessity, and Harter Bakery.
