Once again, H-E-B brought a day of joy to local military moms-to-be on Wednesday, September 20th, when it hosted an Operation Shower group baby shower in their honor. All of the expectant moms are active-duty service members or the partners of deployed members of Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi and other area bases. The shower took place in Corpus Christi TX.
Award-winning journalist Clara Benitez, a KRIS 6 news evening anchor and reporter and a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, served as the event’s emcee and guest host. She was so lovely and welcoming! We couldn’t have asked for a better first shower in Corpus Christi.
Our “Oceans of Love” themed event included a catered lunch, raffle prizes, and the highlight of the event, the distribution of Operation Shower’s signature “Showers In A Box”— gifts of high-quality products for mothers and babies that have been generously donated by H-E-B and other companies including Diaper Genie, Delta Children and Mud Pie. The shower is the 10th Operation Shower event sponsored by H-E-B.
“We are very grateful to H-E-B for its longstanding support and generosity as we host Operation Shower’s first-ever event in the beautiful city of Corpus Christi,” said Operation Shower Founder and Chief Shower Officer LeAnn Morrissey. “Operation Shower was created to honor military moms and moms-to-be for everything they do in service to our country; and with the support of H-E-B, Ms. Benitez, donors and partners, we look forward to showering all of these courageous women with love, admiration, and an opportunity to celebrate this wonderful milestone together.”
“We are thrilled to join Operation Shower in expressing our sincere appreciation to these courageous military moms-to-be for their service on behalf of our country,” said H-E-B Senior Public Affairs Specialist Bobby Rodriguez. “Whether they are active duty themselves or the person keeping everything running smoothly at home so their loved one can proudly serve overseas, we know the enormous sacrifices these women make and feel privileged for the opportunity to show them some love and support through this special shower.”
