On Friday, November 17 underscoring its long-standing commitment to philanthropic outreach in the Kansas City community, the Chiefs Women’s Organization joined with the Government Employees Health Association (GEHA) to host an Operation Shower group baby shower for 22 military moms and moms-to-be. The adorable “B is for Baby” themed shower was held at the Tower Club West at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. All of the moms are either active duty themselves, or the partner of a deployed or active duty service member from area bases.
The “B is for Baby”-themed event included a delicious plated lunch, raffles, guest speakers, and the highlight of the shower, the distribution of Operation Shower’s signature “Showers In A Box” – gifts of high-quality products for mothers and babies that have been generously donated by sponsors and individuals including the Chiefs Women’s Organization, GEHA, Diaper Genie, Evenflo and Delta Children.
“Operation Shower was created to honor military families who are experiencing pregnancy during deployment, which can be both exhilarating and incredibly challenging,” said Operation Shower Founder and Chief Shower Officer LeAnn Morrissey. “We are thrilled to provide an opportunity for these courageous moms to celebrate this exciting milestone while sharing camaraderie with other military women.”
“Serving in the military and starting a family are critical moments in people’s lives, and we want to make sure these families are prepared to welcome the baby into their lives,” said Angie Glotstein, RN, BSN, vice president of clinical quality and population health at GEHA. “In addition to setting these families up, we hope they can bond with each other and create a support network as they all start their families.”
Another beautiful and meaningful shower in our home state of Missouri.
