On a stormy April 3rd, Operation Shower celebrated 25 military moms and moms-to-be at UBS Arena with the New York Islanders and supporting sponsor Ryan Tax. Our baby shower was decorated with teddy bears and balloons galore in pastel shades of blue and orange. All of the moms are either active duty themselves, or the partner of a deployed or active duty service member from area bases.
The celebration included a delicious lunch buffet and sweets table, raffles, games, and guest speakers. The highlight of the shower was the distribution of Operation Shower’s signature “Showers In A Box” – gifts of high-quality products for mothers and babies that sponsors and individuals including the New York Islanders, Diaper Genie, Chicco, and Delta Children have generously donated.
We couldn’t end this shower without a visit from the one and only Sparky, the New York Islanders’ mascot. Sparky got in on the moms’ group photo and made everyone laugh and cheer when he helped host a game of Bingo with our Emcee, Shannon Hogan, sportscaster for MSG Networks, and some of the New York Islanders WAG’s.
