Lendlease Communities, one of the nation’s leaders in public/private community development, presented 40 expectant military moms-to-be with a group baby shower delivered by the nonprofit Operation Shower. Lendlease Communities manages more than 1,950 homes for military families at North Haven Communities in Alaska. The event took place on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Pike’s Waterfront Lodge, located in Fairbanks. All the moms are active-duty service members or the spouses or partners of deployed members of area military bases.
In addition to a catered lunch, each of the honored moms-to-be received an Operation Shower’s signature “Shower in a Box” – a gift of high-quality products for mothers and babies generously donated by companies including Lendlease (US) Community Fund, Romp & Roost, Stella & Dot, and Keller Williams. Beyond the array of tangible items the moms will receive, the most treasured gift of all is the opportunity for the moms to connect with other military women in the same situation.
“North Haven Communities is so proud to help bring this amazing event to our military mothers and families in the interior of Alaska,” said North Haven Communities Project Director Ron Johnson. “It can be especially hard on our young families experiencing the birth of a child when they are thousands of miles away from their families and support networks. We hope this event will make a lasting impression on them, a heartfelt act of giving back to those who serve.”
Lendlease Communities has donated more than $300,000 during its 13-year partnership with Operation Shower. Together, the organizations have hosted more than a dozen baby showers and honored more than 500 military mothers and families. This shower was sponsored by the Lendlease (US) Community Fund, a nonprofit organization that supports community growth and development across Lendlease Communities’ privatized military housing and lodging portfolio by funding projects that address community challenges.
