Actress, model, author and mom Molly Sims helped bring joy to 40 Los Angeles-area military moms-to-be when she served as guest host of a group baby shower in their honor. The event was held on Tuesday, February 17th in the clubhouse at The Riviera Country Club during the PGA TOUR’s 2015 Northern Trust Open.
The moms are active duty service members or the spouses of deployed members of Naval Base Ventura County, Camp Pendleton and other area military installations.
Hosted by Northern Trust Open, the “Dream A Little Dream” themed event was sponsored by baby bedding company, Carousel Designs, with support from The Riviera Country Club and 4moms.
In addition to lunch generously donated by Whole Foods Market Santa Monica, each of the honored moms-to-be received Operation Shower’s signature “Shower In A Box”–a gift of high-quality products for mothers and babies that have been generously donated by Carousel Designs, 4moms and other companies.
“Operation Shower was created to honor military families who are experiencing pregnancy –a joyous time, but also a stressful time. For the innumerable sacrifices they make behind the scenes that enable their loved ones to proudly serve our country and protect our freedom, these moms deserve our support, our love, and an opportunity to celebrate together,” said Operation Shower Founder and Chief Shower Officer LeAnn Morrissey.
As one of the world’s top supermodels, Sims has graced the covers of Mademoiselle, French and Spanish Vogue, French Cosmopolitan and British Marie Claire, but is best known for her images in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue four years in a row. Her acting career took off after landing the coveted role as host on MTV’s “House of Style” and starring as Delinda Deline for five seasons on NBC’s “Las Vegas.” Her film credits include “Yes Man” starring Jim Carrey, “Fired Up” with John Michael Higgins and “Starsky & Hutch.” She also hosted Lifetime’s competition series, “Project Accessory.” Sims showcases her savvy sense of style and fashion on her website, MollySims.com, and recently penned the book, The Everyday Supermodel: My Beauty, Fashion, and Wellness Secrets Made Simple. Sims and her husband have a son, Brooks, and recently announced that a baby girl will soon join the family.
“As a mom, I know how difficult pregnancy can be in the best of circumstances, and I can’t imagine how challenging it must be to experience pregnancy without your spouse by your side,”said Sims. “I am honored to have the opportunity to host the Operation Shower event and thank these amazing women for everything they do at home that enables their spouses to proudly serve our country.”
Allan Sicat, president of presenting sponsor Carousel Designs and a former U.S. Army officer, said, “We are thrilled to join with Operation Shower and Birdies for the Brave to express our gratitude to these courageous military moms-to-be for their significant service and sacrifice on behalf of our country.”
