Our Story
Operation Shower exists for a simple reason: to recognize the military moms and military families who serve our country. We do this by providing joyous — awesome — baby showers! We go above and beyond and then beyond that!
The journey to fulfill this mission started in 2007 with “showers in a box” being put together in the basement of our founder, LeAnn Morrissey. The showers in a box not only provided amazing must-haves for the moms and their babies, but also let these women and their families know they were not alone.
The support she received for these first showers in a box from individuals and companies, the gratitude of the mothers and the morale boost for the fathers were all LeAnn needed to realize that this was something worth doing again and again. Soon after, Operation Shower hosted its first group baby shower at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. The showers in a box were still there – but the element of a group party was added!
In 2020 when faced with the pandemic, we shifted to virtual, drive through and drive-in showers. We also started new shower box programs to meet the needs of military families across the country. Operation Shower continues to work to meet the military moms where they are to celebrate them and recognize their families for all they do for our country.
Operation Shower has now provided over 9,000 military moms with a baby shower! No matter how many showers we host, each and every time is a true honor. To the military families we support: Thank you for all you do for our country and your families – we love you!
Operation Shower has been able to honor thousands of military families thanks in large part to the endless support and generosity of sponsors and donors across the country.
The Operation Shower Team
Operation Shower is based in St. Louis, MO and has remote team members in California, Iowa, Massachusetts and Texas. In addition, we have a great team of In-Kind Donors which make our showers truly awesome! We are a team that believes in the power of JOY and letting others know they matter. We are also awesome at surprises, puns and happy tears!
Lindsey works to source and acquire high-quality gifts for the families we serve. The military lifestyle is nothing new for Lindsey, as her husband, SGT Ryan Fletcher served as a Marine for nearly a decade. Lindsey and Ryan live in St. Louis with their daughter, Emma.
Ed Morrissey is Partner & Chief Creative Officer at Integrity, a St. Louis-based web design and development agency.
