As 2015 winds down and we approach the new year, the Operation Shower team has been reminiscing about all the wonderful milestones we’ve passed over the last 12 months. We are so happy to have had such a fantastic year and wanted to share that joy with our community! Here are five of the many highlights from 2015.
A renewed partnership with Babies“R”Us
Babies“R”Us is an invaluable partner for Operation Shower, helping us give baby showers to hundreds of military moms and their families over the past three years. In 2015, we officially renewed our partnership and are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue working with Babies“R”Us to further our mission of bringing joy to military families one amazing baby shower at a time!
Our first year as an official Birdies for the Brave® Homefront Group
Birdies for the Brave® has been an amazing supporter of our mission, helping us bring joy to military families by sponsoring our baby showers and events and sharing their love with these families. As an official Homefront Group, we have had the honor of being supported by Jim and Tabitha Furyk, and look forward to continuing our partnership with the Furyks and with Birdies for the Brave®!
Our first international shower
We took our mission overseas for the first time ever this year, hosting a baby shower for military moms and moms-to-be stationed in Italy. We couldn’t have done it without the support of First Lady Michelle Obama and the amazing Glam4Good. This was a major step for us, our first time showering moms outside of the United States!
Showers in three new U.S. locations
Not only did we host our first international shower, but we also took our mission to three cities and states we’d never been to before: Miami, Florida; Colorado (Thank you, PepsiCo!); and San Antonio, Texas (Thanks, H-E-B!). These showers were so much fun, and we never could have hosted them without support from people and companies from around the areas!
Our first sponsored B is for Baby Box packing event
With support from the CVS Health Charity Classic, we were able to pack up 75 boxes full of adorable gifts for new military moms and moms-to-be across the country. While our B is for Baby Box program has been in action for a while thanks to sponsor Carousel Designs, this was the first time we were able to put on an event dedicated to giving these gifts to so many individual moms!
On top of all these milestones, we added two amazing new members to our team, we hosted our most showers ever in one year, we worked with some fabulous new companies and volunteers and we showered hundreds of moms and moms to be! We’d call that a great year! We can’t wait to share even more joy and gratitude in 2016. Thanks to all who have been a part of our journey this year!
