It was a beautiful day with a room full of blooms for 59 military moms and moms-to-be, celebrating 60 babies in Austin, Texas!
As part of its companywide Operation Appreciation program and in honor of National Military Spouse Appreciation Day Week, H-E-B brought a day of joy to local military moms-to-be Tuesday, May 7, 2024, when it hosted an Operation Shower group baby shower in their honor. All of the expectant moms are active-duty service members or partners of deployed members of area military bases. This shower took place at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin, Texas.
KXAN-TV News Anchor Jennifer Sanders, whose parents are U.S. Army veterans, served as the event’s special guest host and emcee. A native of San Antonio who has lived all over the world during her family’s military service, Sanders is an Emmy-award-winning and Edward R. Murrow award-winning multi-media journalist and humanitarian with a passion for helping children and families.
Presented by H-E-B, one of the nation’s largest grocery retailers, the “Baby In Bloom”-themed event included a catered lunch, raffle prizes, and the highlight of the event, the distribution of Operation Shower’s signature “Showers In A Box”— gifts of high-quality products for mothers and babies that have been generously donated by H-E-B and other companies including Diaper Genie, Delta Children and Romp & Roost.
“We are thrilled to partner with Operation Shower to show our deep appreciation for these courageous military moms-to-be and their service to our country,” said H-E-B Public Affairs Manager Johnny Mojica. “Whether they are actively serving or supporting a deployed loved one at home, we understand the incredible sacrifices these women make. It’s an honor for us to extend our love and support through this special shower.”
