Operation Shower has once again partnered with PepsiCo to deliver a day of joy to 24 military moms and moms-to-be on Monday, February 12, they hosted a group baby shower in their honor. The moms are the spouses or partners of active duty or deployed members of local military bases, or in some cases, are active-duty military members themselves. The shower took place in The Pit at the University Arena in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jeff Siembieda, executive director of the New Mexico Bowl and co-host of the opening drive on KNML, The Sports Animal served as the event’s emcee. Special guests included Susana Martinez, the 31st Governor of New Mexico.
Presented by PepsiCo with support from UNM Athletics, the “Desert Love”-themed event included a catered lunch, raffles and contests with prizes, and the highlight of the event, the distribution of Operation Shower’s signature Showers In A Box – gifts of high-quality products for mothers and babies that have been donated by generous companies including PepsiCo, Mud Pie, Delta Children, 4moms, Romp & Roost and Diaper Genie. Beyond the array of tangible items the moms will receive, the most treasured gift of all may be the opportunity for the moms to share camaraderie with other military moms-to-be.
“PepsiCo has a long legacy of supporting America’s military families, from hiring veterans across our business to our Employee Resource Group, Valor, which supports veterans within PepsiCo and across the country,” said Shawn Early, senior GM market director, Mountain West for PepsiCo Beverages North America’s West Division. “We are delighted to join Operation Shower and the University of New Mexico to express our tremendous appreciation to military families for everything they do in service to support our country.”
“The University Of New Mexico and UNM Lobo Club are thrilled to work with a great partner in Pepsi to support Operation Shower. Operation Shower is an incredible organization that provides a truly valuable service to military families and moms across the nation. We are grateful they chose Albuquerque and our local military community to be part of this program,” said Jalen Dominguez, senior associate athletic director/executive director of the UNM Lobo Club.
