“The chance to be blessed with all the baby stuff that we can barely afford as of this moment is such a great thing for us.” – Abi, showered mom.
The Lowcountry Foundation for Wounded Military Heroes joined Operation Shower to bring a day of joy to 20 local military moms-to-be on Wednesday, April 17, when they hosted a group baby shower in their honor. All of the expectant moms are active-duty service members or the spouses or partners of deployed members of area bases. The shower took place at the University of South Carolina Beaufort Hilton Head Island Campus. Special guests included former Bluffton Mayor Lisa Sulka on behalf of the Heritage Classic Foundation.
Presented by the Lowcountry Foundation for Wounded Military Heroes, the “Ready to Hatch!”-themed event included a catered lunch, raffle prizes, games, and the highlight of the event, the distribution of Operation Shower’s signature “Showers In A Box”— gifts of high-quality products for mothers and babies that have been generously donated by companies including Diaper Genie, Romp & Roost, Delta Children, Chicco USA and Nadia Hurtt Photography.
“For the fifth year in a row, we are honored to partner with Operation Shower to express our immeasurable appreciation to these courageous military moms-to-be for their service and sacrifice on behalf of our country,” said Lowcountry Foundation for Wounded Military Heroes CEO Russ Spicer. “Deployments take a toll on every member of the family, and we are delighted to help spread joy, love and gratitude to these women for everything they do to keep America safe and free.”
Lydia Blackstone from WJCL channel 22 spoke with showered mom, Elizabeth about the shower and what it meant to her. See the interview here. Then check out our Facebook album with all of the gorgeous photos from this incredible day.
