This fall, we hosted our third baby shower sponsored by the Lend Lease Community Fund at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. With all the support we received from Lend Lease and the rest of the Operation Shower community, the day was a huge success.
We had the chance to give 40 US Marine moms and moms-to-be a baby shower complete with enough gifts, games and smiles to last all day.
The Venue
The Baby Liberty shower was hosted right on the base at Camp Lejeune. The baby shower decor was super cute, featuring an adorable hot air balloon centerpiece on some of the tables that filled the room. In fact, these were so cute we want to share them with you! Learn how to make a similar version of your own here. Bonus? This version comes with a handy gift of diapers!
We couldn’t have created such an awesome space without the help of the wonderful Megan Helms of Confetti Couture Events and Katherine Shorter of Creating Awesomenessity, who helped us set up all the decor for the shower.
Games and Gifts
One of our favorite parts of the shower was the fun we had playing cute trivia games with the moms and their families and friends.
Then came the gifts. In addition to their Showers in a Box, each mom at the Baby Liberty shower received two new parent essentials: a car seat from Safety 1st and a stroller from Summer Infant—two longtime Operation Shower donors always happy to show their support to military families.
The Moms
The very best part of this (and every) shower? The moms and the joy we could see on their faces as they left the stress of deployment behind for a day of celebration.
“My husband deployed one week prior to the shower,” one recipient told us, “so it gave me something to look forward to during a difficult time. I am very thankful and blessed for Operation Shower and all the hard work that went into the Baby Liberty shower!”
We feel so grateful to the amazing families we shower for the sacrifices they make every day. In fact, all we have to do is think about how inspiring and the hard work seems easy, because we love it so much!
