Operation Shower treated military moms in Florida to a grand shower celebrating the babies that they’re waiting to welcome home! An incredible team of supporters and volunteers helped us pull off another shower that was so Worth the Wait (spoiler: this was our theme for the day!) !
No More Waiting – It Was Time to Celebrate!
This time around, we showered 35 military families in the Jacksonville area. The presenting sponsor of the event was the Web.com Tour Championship. We were also supported by our friends from the Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation, Chicco USA, the PGA TOUR Wives Association, Ten23 Designs, Milan Custom Homes, and Birdies for the Brave. Lots of people came together to show lots of love for these precious little babies.
Amanda Wilkinson, with the PGA TOUR Wives Association, hosted our 111th shower. The moms received sincere, encouraging words from Felicia Alston. She reminded the moms, that in the midst of every day life, to never forget that they matter.
No Waiting for Gifts . .
Web.com gave the babies little elephant lovies to commemorate the day, not that the moms would ever forget their time at their event! Most families wait until their baby shower to find out if they will be gifted the essentials. We made sure that their wait was worth it and gave them more gifts than they could handle! Chicco and Peg Perego truly gifted our families with items that would grow along with them. Car seats, step stools, bath tubs, and high chairs were just a few of the goodies they received.
The Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation made sure that babies were going to be out and about in style. Each mom received an outfit and a pair of Freshly Picked shoes for when baby is ready to make his or her debut. Amanda Wilkinson, longtime supporter and advocate for Operation Shower, provided vegan leather diaper bags from her new company, Dubz Mommaz & Poppaz, on behalf of the PGA TOUR Wives.
We love when our previously showered moms give back to support other military families. In addition to some wonderful moms who came back to volunteer for the day, former showered mom, Michelle Donahue generously donated LulaRoe gift certificates for the moms! And as usual, thanks to a platoon of donors, our signature we filled our Shower in a Box with most of the items the families would want and need on day one.
Time to Eat, for Sweets, and More Peeks!
Gifts and volunteering aren’t the only ways that previously showered families give back. A mom wanted to show appreciation for when Operation Shower hosted her daughter and this mom used her talents to do just that. She provided beautifully decorated cookies by her company, Ingredient Love Cookie Co., and they were certainly worth the wait as well! In other dessert news, the Cake Pop Shop and Brown Shuga and Spice took the cake pop and cupcake game to another level for our families enjoying this shower.
Before dessert, we did have lunch! One Ocean, our venue for the day, catered the delicious lunch for our guests.
Paper & Cake designed and created our adorable graphics and worked with our Chief Creative Officer, Amy, to implement this unique, fun theme. Retro time elements have never been cuter! Don’t believe us? Head over to Facebook to see the beautiful photos from Pink Shutter Photography.
