Comments like this are all that we could hope for.  When it comes to dreaming-up a shower from start to finish, our greatest desire is that our military moms and moms-to-be will leave feeling as though they’ve just stepped out of a fairytale.  We recognize the great sacrifices that military families endure, and we aim to give them the most amazing celebration.  “Cute as a Button” was no exception.  With help from our long-time friends and Presenting Sponsor, Discover, and the support of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, the Phoenix Country Club, and General Dynamics, this shower was destined to be a success!

It’s always such a treat to come to Arizona! We’ve created so many life-long friendships with our Arizona volunteers through the years, so coming back always feels like an exciting reunion.

Our first shower with Discover, took place at the prestigious Phoneix Country Club, inside a gorgeous ballroom, overlooking the lush green golf course. Paper & Cake designed the bright and colorful graphics for the shower, “Cute as a Button.” Michelle Burt along with an all-star team of volunteers helped fill the space with so many whimsical details, including larger than life buttons, bobbins, and thread.

We were thrilled to be back in the same room with our friend, Andrea Robinson who kept our spirits high as our host for the day. We celebrated 30 new moms and moms-to-be from the Arizona National Guard, Luke Airforce Base, and Davis Monthan Airforce Base.

Those in attendance got to hear from Tiffany Nelson from the Charles Schwab Cup and Vice President of Discover Phoenix, Tracy Hedrick who explained how supporting Operation Shower was personal since her father was also a service member. In Tracy’s words: “We acknowledge the sacrifices that you’re making and we want to celebrate you with some good stuff!” And, they certainly did! In addition to the “Shower in a Box” that each showered mom received, moms also took home gift cards from Carousel Designs, Kendra Scott jewelry, Southern by Design diaper caddies, Infant Optics Video Baby Monitors, and to top it all off, a Chicco Playard!

Last but not least, we just don’t consider it a party if there’s no dessert. Luckily for our moms, there were plenty of treats to go around thanks to Inspired Sugar, Ingredient Love Cookie Co., Anna Shea Chocolates, and the Princess Baker!

This was such a special day and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make the whole event possible!
