April 12, 2023, was a beautiful day for a joyous baby shower in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Operation Shower joined forces with the Lowcountry Foundation for Wounded Military Heroes, who presented a “Hello, Baby!”-themed celebration for 19 local military moms and moms-to-be. All of the expectant moms are active-duty service members or the spouses or partners of deployed members of area bases. The shower took place at the University of South Carolina Beaufort Hilton Head Island Campus in the sun-filled Dining Atrium, where the room was decorated in black and white gingham and centerpieces of brightly colored fresh market florals. Operation Shower’s friend, broadcast journalist Lynn Smith, host of the StrollerCoaster Parenting Podcast, created by Munchkin helped to set the joyful mood as the event’s guest host and emcee.
Expectant moms were treated to a catered lunch, raffle prizes, games, and the distribution of Operation Shower’s signature “Showers In A Box”— gifts of high-quality products for mothers and babies that have been generously donated by companies including Munchkin, Peg Perego, 4moms and Delta Children.
“We are honored to partner with Operation Shower to express our immeasurable appreciation to these courageous military moms-to-be for their service and sacrifice on behalf of our country,” said Lowcountry Foundation for Wounded Military Heroes CEO Russ Spicer. “Deployments take a toll on every member of the family, and we are delighted to help spread joy, love and gratitude to these women for everything they do to keep America safe and free.”
