As part of its company-wide Operation Appreciation program, H-E-B helped bring a day of joy to 24 local military moms-to-be at the Touchdown Club at Darrell K. Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, when they hosted an Operation Shower group baby shower in their honor. All of the expectant moms are active-duty service members or the partners of deployed members of area military bases.
“We are thrilled to join Operation Shower in expressing our sincere appreciation to these courageous military moms-to-be for their service on behalf of our country,” said H-E-B Public Affairs Manager Johnny Mojica. “Whether they are active duty themselves or the person keeping everything running smoothly at home so their loved one can proudly serve overseas, we know the enormous sacrifices these women make and feel privileged for the opportunity to show them some love and support through this special shower.”
The adorable and funny, KXAN-TV News Anchor Jennifer Sanders, whose parents are U.S. Army veterans, served as the event’s special guest host and emcee. A native of San Antonio, TX, who has lived all over the world during her family’s military service, Sanders is an Emmy-award winning and Edward R. Murrow award-winning multi-media journalist and humanitarian with a passion for helping children and families. She truly blessed us all at this event by making everyone feel welcome and excited to participate in games we played.
Our “Howdy Little One”-themed event also included a catered lunch, raffle prizes, and the highlight of the event, the distribution of Operation Shower’s signature “Showers In A Box”— gifts of high-quality products for mothers and babies that have been generously donated by H-E-B and other companies including Diaper Genie, Delta Children, Skip Hop and Mud Pie. This shower is the 11th Operation Shower event sponsored by H-E-B and it was the best way to end 2023.
“We are very grateful to H-E-B for its longstanding support and generosity,” said Operation Shower Founder and Chief Shower Officer LeAnn Morrissey. “Operation Shower was created to honor military moms and moms-to-be for everything they do in service to our country; and with the support of H-E-B, donors, and partners, we look forward to showering all of these courageous women with love, admiration, and an opportunity to celebrate this wonderful milestone together.”
