In partnership with the Chief’s Womens Organization and GEHA, we hosted our 3rd baby shower at Arrowhead Stadium!
When we asked our shower honorees what was most meaningful about the shower, Morgan C. responded, “Seeing everyone being so supportive when military moms don’t always have a big support system away from home. It was nice to feel celebrated and be able to celebrate my baby when I otherwise would not have had that chance.”
In order to keep everyone safe during the Pandemic, we opted to host a special drive-through event. We are so grateful for the Chief’s Womens Organization, and volunteers from GEHA for helping to make the day such a special day for the 25 military moms-to-be that were honored.
As moms arrived at their “Baby on Board”-themed baby shower, they received a boxed lunch, complete with cookies from Cami’s Cakes which matched the shower graphics perfectly. Moms then ventured through a series of quick stops where volunteers expressed their gratitude while loading each car with gifts – including Operation Shower’s signature “Showers In A Box.” Each mom also received a gift bundle from the CWO that included a Baby Shusher Sleep Bundle and a gift certificate to Paint Nail Bar. GEHA also chipped-in to give each mom a tote bag that included a Temporal Scan Thermometer among other things. Additionally, each mom received a Skip Hop diaper bag, a lovely necklace (for mom) from Hazen & Co. and a gift card from Noodle & Boo. At the final stop, volunteers gave honorees Playtex Nurser & Diaper Genie Gift Sets, a box filled with baby formula and food from HyVee/Topco and a baby monitor!
Pop Culture Sculptures pulled out all of the stops with their amazingly sturdy and equally cheerful balloon displays which somehow managed to withstand record high winds. While the winds forced us to take down the tents that we had originally planned on using to display each gift station, the balloon arch held its shape the entire event. We were also so thrilled to have DJ MicKing Music back with us for the 3rd consecutive year! DJ MicKing kept spirits-high as volunteers danced and cheered for moms along the parade route.
Thank you also to photographer, Netanya’s Pix for stepping-in at the last minute to capture all of the happy MOM-ents. To see the full gallery visit our Facebook page.
