On May 24, 2021, Operation Shower teamed up for the first time with the NY Islanders for a “Salute the Newest Rookies” Drive-Through Baby Shower! The play-off team provided the parking circle at Northwell Health Ice Center as the site for the baby shower for 25 military families. The drive-through shower was set up with various baby shower stations (including a game and lunch!) as the moms drove their decorated cars – picking up Operation Shower’s Shower in a Box, AngelCare baby monitors, Playtex Diaper Genies and bottle sets, Peg Perego High Chairs, Ny Islanders Gear, and a $100 Amazon Gift Card from the NY Islanders’ Wives for any possible items they were missing!
“I’m so excited that our hometown team is doing what they’re doing,” said Colleen Ryan, a logistics officer in the Coast Guard and Islanders fan. “The fact that they’re also in the same week in the playoffs shows that the team and team’s management is still focused on the community and America as a whole. I’m so grateful they think of us in this time and celebrating not only their success and our success.”
