Last month, we celebrated our 60th baby shower by taking Operation Shower overseas for the first time ever! We worked with a group of truly amazing sponsors and supporters to throw a surprise baby shower for 28 moms-to-be in Vicenza, Italy. Here are some of the highlights!
The Moms
The shower was for 28 moms-to-be, stationed in Vicenza while their spouses are deployed. We were so thrilled to play a role in giving these amazing women a happy surprise!
The moms attended the event expecting a roundtable discussion with First Lady Michelle Obama as part of the Joining Forces events at USAG Vicenza. However, they were surprised to find that in addition to discussing military family life—Operation Shower was there to honor them with a baby shower complete with tons of special gifts and a whole lot of support!
The Sponsors & Donors
Many great people and companies in the United States and Italy came together to show these military moms how much they are loved and supported.
Our sponsors included Babies“R”Us, Carousel Designs and Birdies for the Brave, all of whom helped make the surprise shower extra special. Donors such as Chicco, Petunia Pickle Bottom and Babyganics ensured that the moms were showered with the cutest baby essentials.
We were also joined by Mary Alice Stephenson and GLAM4GOOD, who put together a shopping spree that pampered the moms with everything from maternity clothes to makeup to jewelry and more!
Celebrating with the First Lady
The shower would not have been possible without the support of First Lady Michelle Obama and Joining Forces, who wanted to show all their appreciation for these military moms-to-be.
It was an honor to have her be a part of the celebration and join the moms in looking through their Showers in a Box and picking out items during their shopping spree.
