Coo-ing over our Military Moms
On Saturday, May 1, 2010, military moms-to-be were treated to a very special “Red, White & Coo” themed baby shower, courtesy of the PGA TOUR and nonprofit partners, Operation Shower and March of Dimes.
Oversized gift boxes were filled up with essential baby supplies, clothing, toys, books and much, much more! The supplies were provided by Kmart, who is the March of Dimes’ major corporate supporter. Many other incredibly generous donors pitched in to help. The goal to shower a group of moms whose spouses are serving their country was a success!
Coo-dos from Mr. Finchem
“We are delighted to partner with Operation Shower and the March of Dimes for this special event,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem. “I know how difficult it is at times to be part of a military family. My dad was a career Marine and there were six of us at home — it wasn’t easy for my mom. Operation Shower allows us to show how much we appreciate the sacrifices (that) the wives of soldiers and sailors make while their husbands are away serving this country.”
Finchem attended the shower with his wife Holly. Also in attendance was Admiral Townsend “Tim” Alexander, Commander of Navy Region Southeast. Several volunteers were also on hand to help us to give back to these families.
Coo-dos to our Military Families
We so sincerely appreciate our military families! They willingly and selflessly, sacrifice so much in service to our country. Hosting these showers is just a small way to show our appreciation for all that they do. We rely heavily on volunteer support and donations to do all that we do.
