Sea What’s Going On
The second stop on our 2011 “Fall Tour” was to honor the moms of the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77); the carrier travels from sea to sea, spreading goodwill around the world. Read more about the carrier here. Over 80 moms-to-be received their Showers In A Box, either at the shower or at their homes.
Sea Who Helped Us Out
The nautical themed shower was made possible by a group of women known as “41’s First Mates.” This amazingly dedicated group of women spearheaded fundraising campaigns in both Kennebunkport, Maine and Texas to make this shower possible. Maine and Texas? Yes, of course, because these are the two “home states” of the ship’s namesake, Former President George H.W. Bush!
Again, thanks to the amazing generosity of our donors, our moms and their little ones were treated to gifts and so many baby essentials. The smiles on the moms’ faces beamed and emphasized their graciousness for all of the support they received. We are also thankful for Care.com and Britax for their support for this amazing day.

Finally, thank you to former President George H.W. Bush for taking the time to create a very special video welcome to all the moms on “your” ship. Your crew does such wonderful things to bring joy and assistance to people in need around the world and it was such an honor to be able to share that goodness with our moms…it was truly a day to remember!
