Sea How Busy We’ve Been!
We’ve already had a busy late Summer/Fall here at Operation Shower with 3 showers on our 4 shower “Fall Tour.” Should we have gotten Operation Shower concert tour shirts made?
An Actual Under the Sea Stop
The first stop on our Fall Tour was Groton, Connecticut on August 20th, 2011. This was our first shower for a submarine base (and our first one that barely beat a hurricane!) The shower went off without a single hitch and that is thanks in large part to our amazing partners Birdies For The Brave and the wonderful team from the Naval Submarine Base New London; the effort was led by Karen McLaughlin, the wife of Rear Admiral Michael McLaughlin.
Moms were treated to an evening full of gratitude and gifts “Under The Sea” which was very fitting with the venue being the Submarine Force Library & Museum. Looking at the smiles on their faces, we are sure they had a pretty good time!
The presenting sponsor for this event was Care.com. Support was also given by the Travelers Championship, St. Francis Foundation, and Pottery Barn Kids Furniture. We appreciate all of them for helping us make a difference.
In addition to the cribs donated by Pottery Barn Kids, moms were also treated to very special gifts from Maclaren and Radio Flyer. The Sesame Workshop provided their own special surprises, including a video from Rosita and a phone call from Elmo himself!
Oceans of Gratitude
We have so many people to thank for making this night possible, especially our host partner, Birdies For The Brave. Birdies For The Brave is the PGA TOUR’s military outreach initiative that provides year-round support to our Nation’s military. We truly value our relationship with them and look forward to the future!
Moms and Operation Shower appreciate our partners and presenting sponsors for doing your part to give back to these very deserving families. We truly enjoyed going “Under The Sea” with you! Tune in for some more sea-side scenes and visit our entire gallery here in our Facebook album!
