The Sunshine was out!
H-E-B, Operation Shower and Lone Star Emmy Award-winning news anchor Taina Maya teamed up again to honor expecting military families from Fort Hood and Killeen area bases at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center on Wednesday, April 10th.
One of the nation’s largest regional grocery retailers, H-E-B didn’t disappoint! Catering True Texas BBQ, providing raffle prizes and donating items for Operation Shower’s signature “Showers In A Box”, H-E-B made sure the moms felt loved and supported. The moms played games, decorated onesies (for prizes of course!) and were pampered by one of the many amazing H-E-B volunteers on hand for the day.
“We were thrilled to join with Operation Shower to express our sincere gratitude to these courageous military moms-to-be for their service on behalf of our country,” said H-E-B Director of Public Affairs Leslie Sweet. “Whether they are active duty themselves or the person keeping everything running smoothly at home so their loved one can proudly serve overseas, we know the enormous sacrifices these women make and feel privileged for the opportunity to show them some love and support through this special shower.”
Supporting sponsor, The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, was also present to help us celebrate our 34 excited families. “We are grateful for the opportunity to help veterans and their families make it back to better through this special shower,” said Master Sergeant (retired) Ovi Rivera, MSIS, OIF & OEF veteran and outreach director at the Cohen Military Family Clinic.
Also Working the Farm…
We couldn’t have pulled off the amazing day without help from some of our amazing donors. Thanks to Delta Children’s for the gorgeous changing tables that each mom received as well as Playtex Baby and 4moms for their generous donations. Our families loved each and every gift.
Another sunny thanks goes out to Amy Odom Photography for helping capture the joy and love of each and every guest. Be sure to check out our Facebook page for more pictures of the day.
