At Operation Shower we celebrate military families and in particular, military moms. It was only fitting that on Mother’s Day 2016, we celebrated this milestone day with 40 moms in Jacksonville, Florida. Sponsored by Player’s Championship and Birdies for the Brave, at the TPC Sawgrass in the Patriot’s Outpost, our host Tabitha Furyk of the Furyk Foundation presided over the festivities of the day.
Holly Finchem, wife of PGA TOUR Commissioner, Tim Finchem spoke to our moms and introduced the military officials present. They included Captain Howard Wanamaker, Commanding Officer of N.A.S. JAX., Captain Wes McCall, Commanding Officer of Naval Station Mayport, and his wife, Reyna, and Captain Matt Berta, Commander of Navy Region Southeast Reserve Component Command and his wife.
We wanted our moms to feel like superheroes, because that’s what they are to us. A super hero’s effort went into the design of the event starting with the graphic designs by Small Moments.
How do we thank our super hero military moms? We gift them with the items they really need! Our sponsor Chicco gave a hero’s welcome and gifted Travel Systems and Playards to each of our mommies for super babies on the go and at home. Valspart Certificates and Rosie Pope Outfits were given to each of our mommies. And for those days when a super mom needs a day off, they each left with an Intelligent Decisions Spa Gift Bag. Each mom also went home with a Shower in a Box filled with goodies for themselves and baby.
