The Jim & Tabitha Furyk Foundation and PNC Bank helped Operation Shower host over 30 expectant military women to a group baby shower on Sunday, October 3, 2021. The event was held poolside at the Timuquana Country Club in Jacksonville from noon to 1:30 pm. All of the moms were the spouses or partners of deployed Marines, sailors, airmen or soldiers, or in some cases, were active duty military members themselves.
“Jacksonville has the third largest military presence in the country, and it is such a privilege to share in this significant moment with these families,” said Brian Bucher, PNC regional president for North Florida. “These courageous expectant mothers, whose service and sacrifice in the military and at home enable their loved ones to provide freedom and security for America, are the silent heroes who are essential to the strength of the nation and the backbone of the family. A baby shower is a perfect way to celebrate them, ease some of the financial stress of having a newborn, and provide some much-needed R&R for these extraordinary mothers-to-be.”
The Operation Shower event was held in conjunction with PGA TOUR Champions’ Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS presented by Circle K, with support provided by the Jim & Tabitha Furyk Foundation. The Furyks, both longtime supporters of Operation Shower, addressed the military families at the event, which also included support from Chicco and Circle K.
The “Sea of Love”-themed event featured raffle prizes, games, and the presentation of Operation Shower’s signature “Shower In A Box” to each of the moms – gifts of high-quality products for mothers and babies that were donated by companies including Underwood Jewelry, Chicco, the Jim & Tabitha Furyk Foundation, and The Aly Cat Series.
“Operation Shower was created because typically military moms are the ones who hold it all together at home,” said Morrissey. “Without their partners by their side, deployed to another part of the world, these moms deserve our support, our thanks, our love, and an opportunity to celebrate together – especially during these challenging times.”
Operation Shower was delighted to join with the Jim & Tabitha Furyk Foundation and PNC to spread joy – in-person – and express our gratitude to these amazing moms, who sacrifice so much in service to our country.
The safety of the moms is our guiding focus at Operation Shower as we work to honor these deserving families. Operation Shower is following strict covid-19 safety measures for any of its showers. They can be found here.
